PARENTS/COACHES:
Palmetto Region has a NO-TOLERANCE policy on screaming, yelling, or making any
derogatory remarks to ANY official ( Up ref, down ref, or line judges). Keep in
mind.. they are human.. and most of the time they are kids. Penalty is immediate
dismissal from gym, no warning. Region teams may face sanction to participate in
future tournaments.
Officials/ Players (NEW FOR 2008):
Palmetto Region requires that while on officiating duty, no one is to have in
possession a cell phone, I-pod or song listening device, or food. This includes
R1 Up Ref, R2 Down Ref, Line Judges and especially, scorekeepers. First offense
will be a warning, 2nd offense will be loss of official certification, 3rd may
include sanction from tournament play.
All
region tournaments will begin at 8:30am, unless otherwise posted. Gyms open at
8am, All teams must report to captains meeting at 8:15 in the event of schedule
change.
DIRECTIONS:
From
I-20 and/or Upstate SC: Take
Hwy. 1 or Hwy. 19 into downtown Aiken. Follow Hwy. 19 (South) signs out of
downtown to Whiskey Rd. (still Hwy. 19). Stay on Hwy. 19 for approximately
10 miles and go thru New Ellenton. At the other side of New Ellenton, take
a right on Hwy. 278. Go 4 miles until you see a sign for Silver Bluff H.S.
(Desoto Dr.) Take a left; school will be on the right – park at far end
of school building.
From
Charleston: Take
Hwy 78 (or Hwy 61 to Hwy 78) thru Bamberg, Denmark and just past
Williston. Follow signs for Augusta – take a left onto Hwy. 781 (Hwy.
781 goes into Hwy 278). Follow
signs for Augusta. Go thru the town of New Ellenton (Hwy. 19) – stay on
Hwy 278. Go another 4 miles on Hwy. 278 until you see sign for
Silver Bluff H.S. (Desoto Dr.). Take a left; school will be on the right
– park at far end of school building.
From
Hilton Head / Savannah: If
you are taking Hwy 278, see directions above (From Charleston). If you
like back roads: take Hwy 321 to
Estill. Take a left onto Hwy
3. Stay on Hwy 3 until it hits Hwy
125. Go left on Hwy 125. Go
thru Savannah River Site, then thru Jackson. Make a right on Hwy.
302. Go to Hwy 278 and make a right. Go 2 miles to Desoto Dr. and
make a right. School will be on the right – park at far end of school
building.
