Palmetto Region Directions For
PARENTS/COACHES:
Palmetto Region has a NO-TOLERANCE policy on screaming, yelling, or making any
derogatory remarks to ANY official ( Up ref, down ref, or line judges). Keep in
mind.. they are human.. and most of the time they are kids. Penalty is immediate
dismissal from gym, no warning. Region teams may face sanction to participate in
future tournaments.
Officials/ Players (NEW FOR 2008):
Palmetto Region requires that while on officiating duty, no one is to have in
possession a cell phone, I-pod or song listening device, or food. This includes
R1 Up Ref, R2 Down Ref, Line Judges and especially, scorekeepers. First offense
will be a warning, 2nd offense will be loss of official certification, 3rd may
include sanction from tournament play.
All region tournaments will begin at 8:30am, unless otherwise posted. Gyms open at 8am, All teams must report to captains meeting at 8:15 in the event of schedule change.
Take
the Hwy. 1 exit for Aiken.
Follow
Hwy. 1 toward Aiken. Keep going
straight on York St. (where Hwy. 1 makes a right onto Richland Ave.).
Follow
York St. until it dead ends into S. Boundary.
Make
a right on S. Boundary, and then an immediate left onto Whiskey Rd. (Hwy.19)
Go
1.7 miles on Whiskey Rd. The
church is on your right across the street from Odell Weeks Recreation
Center.
b) From I-20 Heading East (or coming from Upstate SC on Hwy. 19)
Take
the Hwy. 19 exit for Aiken.
Follow
Hwy. 19 toward Aiken. Follow
the Hwy. 19 signs through downtown Aiken.
At
the intersection of S. Boundary, Hwy. 19 turns into Whiskey Rd.
Go 1.7 miles on Whiskey Rd. The church is on your right across the street from Odell Weeks Recreation Center.
c)
From Lower State (Charleston) – coming into Aiken on Hwy. 78 or Hwy. 4
(Hwy. 302).
If
you’re coming on Hwy. 78, go about 2 miles past the town of Montmorenci.
Make a left onto Hwy. 302 (Pine Log Rd.)
If
you’re coming into Aiken on Hwy. 4 (Hwy. 302), keep following the Hwy 302
signs.
After
crossing the railroad tracks on Hwy. 302, go 2.7 miles to Whiskey Rd.
Make
a right on Whiskey. The church
is about 0.2 miles on your left.
d) From
Lower State (Hilton Head/Savannah)
Follow
Hwy 278 towards New Ellenton.
Make
a right on Hwy. 19 and follow Hwy. 19 for about 8-10 miles towards Aiken.
The
church is on your left, just past the Home Depot.
If
you like back roads and want to save some time:
take Hwy 321 to Estill.
Take
a left onto Hwy 3.
Stay on Hwy 3 until it hits Hwy 125.
Go
left on Hwy 125.
Go thru Savannah River Site.
Right after you thru the SRS exit checkpoint, make a right onto SRS
Rt.1. Go
about 5-6 miles until this road deadends.
Make a left.
At
the traffic light, go straight thru – this will be Hwy. 19.
Follow
Hwy. 19 for about 8-10 miles towards Aiken.
The
church is on your left, just past the Home Depot.
