"HALL B" escalators
are for SPECTATORS only. Handstamps
will be available for re-entry, please have this done at
time of entry.
"HALL C" escalators are
for COACHES and PLAYERS IN UNIFORM only. |

|
Each team is responsible for having one person (coach or
team rep) to attend the check in desk at the convention
center and pick up Coaches passes PRIOR to play.
Questions from parents or players concerning passes must
be addressed through team representative. Head coach
will receive a Mizuno Travel Bag and Notebook. One per
team only. |
|
|
|
ROSTERS |
|
Each team needs TWO printed USAV rosters- ( must come
from USAV database- not handwritten). One will be
turned in to check-in desk. Second will be kept by
coach and shown to 1st official prior to each match. |
|
NO COACHES MEETING |
|
There will be no coaches meeting this year. All
information you need is listed below. Take time to
review and read all information. |
|
|
|
Teams and Coaches are encouraged to get to your assigned
court ASAP. If teams are in attendance, we will attempt
to start early on Friday. |
|
|
|
Match Start Times |
|
First match of each day will start on the scheduled
time. All other matches will start immediately following
the previous match, regardless of posted time. Normal
time limitations will be enforced, addressed in USAV
rule book. Note Friday and Sunday finals late Wave may
start early, up to 15 mins early for AM wave and up to
30 mins early for PM wave. if both teams are in
attendance. |

|
|
On Friday, due to the short time allowed for matches and
the number we need to get in, will hold an additional
match on an open court. If this is done, teams will
have to supply ONE line judge and One person to flip
score or track libero. Region will provide up/down ref
and scorekeeper. |
|
|
|
In the event the paid up official is not on the court at
time warmups are to start, it is the responsibility of
the officiating team to get them started. Also, notify
the Championship Desk concerning official not on court. |
|
|
|
Officiating Duty & Fine if missed. |
|
It is very important you are on the court PRIOR to end
of previous match. Teams who arrive 10 mins after the
end of the previous match, or who do not show, will
forfeit there first game of there next match by 0-25 and
incur fine. Also the club will be fined $50.00 per
incident. Make sure you know official duties on Sunday. |
|
|
|
SCORE REPORT FORMS & SCORE SHEETS |
|
We will use Palmetto Region Score report forms for each
match, both teams will remit. Coaches are encouraged
to assign a parent to remit this immediate following the
match. Forms MUST be remitted within 5 mins following
end of match and COMPLETED IN FULL.
If not remitted, 5 pt penalty may be imposed on your
next match. |

|
SCORE SHEETS: |
|
It is the reffing teams duty to remit the score sheet to
the championship desk at the end of the match.
Scorekeeper must have 1st Referee sign off on score
sheet and confirm all information has been provided on
the form. Note- we must have court numbers / matches in
order to record information. Failure to bring to desk
after match will result in reffing team being penalized
5 points on there next match. |

|
FORMATS / TIE BREAKERS / PROTEST |
|
Warm-ups |
|
Warmups will consist of 2-4-4: 2 min. of shared court
time on your side only. 4 minutes of serving team to
hit and/serve. 4 minutes for receiving team to hit
and/or serve. |
|
12's Format Only |
|
12s format will be normal one day 5 tm pool, 2 games to
25, starting at 6. 12s will play with a lite ball,
unless both coaches agree to use regular ball. Players
may step in for serves ( 3-4' step in). Warmups will be
3-3-1. |
|
All other Remaining Formats |
|
3 & 4 team pools will play best of three games:
25-25-15, starting at 4- 2 pt cap during pool play, no
cap in playoffs. |
|
|
|
Pool Format rules may have errors, rules listed here
will be master in the event of discrepancies. |
|
|
|
All teams will begin Friday in either bracket or pool
play to determine if you move to the upper half of age
division or lower. Friday 4pm and 7pm Waves, but may
start early, if possible. |
|
|
|
Saturday play will determine what playoff bracket you
will participate. Open, Power, Club or Challenge. All
Teams advance to play on Sunday ( except 12s). |
|
Teams will be allowed to play with 5 and use a ghost
player, except for the Open Division in Playoffs |
|
Come to championship desk to file a protest. |
|
Sunday Playoffs |
|
1st round match losses will play an optional consolation
match for most divisions- some may not. : ONE game to
25. Teams receiving a first round bye will not
participate in consolation games. Consolation games can
be optional, if both "TEAMS" (not just coaches- consult
players) agree to not to play. If consolation is not
played, ref duty for finals will be loser of last match.
If not played, it will result in a tied placement. You
must report a score report form and indicate- NOT
PLAYED. |

|
Matches for 3 team pool formats will consist of only TWO
games to 25, starting at 4 during pool play. In bracket
play, format will be 25-25-15 starting at 4. 1st - 3rd
will be determined by tiebreaker procedure |
|
|
|
Normal tie breaking rules will apply- EXCEPT pools
leading to Open Gold- if 3 way tie for 1st- we will play
one game to 15. |
|
No cap on Playoff games. |
|
NOTE: If you are schedule for late morning start- come
in 1 hr early- matches could start early, should the
early round of play finish before scheduled time. |
|
|
|
Tie Breakers: |
|
GOLD DIVISION TIE BREAKING ONLY- If a two way tie by
match records, the tie is broken by head to head results
in pool. If a three way tie by match record, all teams
will participate in tie breaking games. Seeds will be
determined by (1) Net Point Percentage (2) Coin. #2
seed plays #3 seed, #1 seed refs to determine 3rd.
Winner plays #1 seed, loser of M1 refs to determine 1st
and 2nd. Will be one game to 15, start at 0. |

|
Pool Tiebreaker : 1) Matches Won vs Lost (if 3 way tie
then #4) 2) Head to Head 3) Game Win % 4) Total Pool
Net Points 5) Flip a Coin |

|
|
National Bid |
|
Only teams who win the Open Gold Division will be
offered the Bid to attend the Post Season National
Tournament. Teams must had notified the region and
remitted your deposit in order to be considered.
Should the team not attend, the deposit will be
forfeited and/or provided to 2nd team, should they
decide to attend. |
|
|
|
ALL REGION VOTING |
|
|
|
Before you finish pool play on Saturday, remit YOUR
nomination for 1st Team All Region and 2nd Team All
Region from your team. |
|
|
|
PRIZES and AWARDS: |
|
1st in the Open Division will be awarded a bid to attend
nationals, provided they have paid there deposit. |
|
1st and 2nd in Gold Open Division will be awarded
prizes. |
|
1st in all other divisions will be awarded prizes. |
|
Once you win your division, bring team to Championship
Desk to pick up awards. We want to get a picture also. |
|
|
|
AOVC will host a Church Service on Sunday 7am prior to
matches beginning. More info at Championship Desk about
place. |

|
|
Officials/ Players (NEW
FOR 2008): |
|
Palmetto Region requires that while on officiating duty,
no one is to have in possession a cell phone, I-pod or
song listening device, or food. This includes R1 Up Ref,
R2 Down Ref, Line Judges and especially, scorekeepers.
First offense will be a warning, 2nd offense will be
loss of official certification, 3rd may include sanction
from tournament play. |

|
PARENTS/COACHES: |
|
Palmetto Region has a NO-TOLERANCE policy on screaming,
yelling, or making any derogatory remarks to ANY
official ( Up ref, down ref, or line judges). Keep in
mind.. they are human.. and most of the time they
are kids. Penalty is immediate dismissal from gym, no
warning. Region teams may face sanction to participate
in future tournaments. |
